Baba Baby O – Review, Story, Star Cast, OTT Release Date

Baba Baby O, as the name suggests, is about the father(Baba), his babies, and O, his love interest. But, before passing any judgment, wait, it is not so simple. This movie is produced by the new-age iconic Bengali producer-director, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. The duo make movies about social taboos and give a beautiful message from their movies. So, what message do they deliver from Baba Baby O.

Baba Baby O story

The movie is about a 40 something Man, Megh, who becomes the father of twins through surrogacy. Well, it’s a great concept. But, hold on, the movie is not about Surrogacy.

Megh’s progressive family supports him in this decision to become a single parent. For the initial few minutes, the movie does focus on the challenges of a single father, but then again it diverts from that.

Megh’s father thinks that his son is gay and in one-two frames, the movie does try to sensitize viewers about gay rights. But, then again, the movie is not about that either.

One expects fireworks when ‘O’ aka Brishti (Solanki Roy) makes an entrance. Brishti owns a kids’ toy shop but she hates kids. That is when the story was about to take a U-turn.

But, Alas, the leading lady is a damsel in distress. Her complicated story failed to pique the interest as we have seen such complexities in relationships related contents before.

Baba Baby O Review

The movie is about everything without being about anything. They have focused on so many problems that it has become a half-cooked khichdi. In short, Baba Baby O is a jack of all trades, master of none.

When the storyline is predictable, execution becomes important. But, here too it fails.

The whole movie depends on Jisshu Sengupta and he does play his part well. But, the script is so weak that after some time you get bored watching him.

Baba Baby O is Solanki Roy’s debut movie. She is a popular Bengali television star and has worked on many mega serials. As a debutant, she has done decent acting in the movie.

The movie was dependent on the chemistry of Jisshu and Solanki. In this intense love story, chemistry is totally missing. Surely, One fall in love with the two munchkins.

In terms of flaws, the film’s speed and relatively predictable plot disappoints. The movie drags at times, and editing could have been better. The dialogues are flat.

Occasionally the few streaks of comedy of Rajat Ganguly and Mainak Bhowmik make you laugh. The fake English accent of Gourab Chatterjee could have been avoided. His character is a caricature of itself.

The most saving point of the movie is the song, Ei Mayabi Chander Raate. It is a treat to the ears. Chamok Hasan, Ikkshita Mukherjee, and Hemlata Chakraborty have given voice to this melodious song.

Aritra Mukherjee’s directorial debut movie Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti was a superhit. Baba Baby O is his second movie as a director.

The movie is streaming on the Hoichoi OTT platform. Watch this movie if you want to kill your time.
