Bengali Film industry faced the heat with actress Sreelekha Mitra’s nepotism allegation. The actress had said in her youtube channel, Aami Sreelekha, that she never got the lead role in movies as Prosenjit had always favored Rituparna Sengupta, his lady love at that time. That forced her to move into TV serials. She further alleged that noted filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee used to work with Swastika as they were having an affair. Swastika has questioned these allegations as to why always actresses are slut-shamed. Further, the superstar Prosenjit has also countered this by saying that he has worked with the maximum number of newcomers.
Bengali Industry does have actors who have a filmy background. But have they reached the top just because of their connection or did talent play a fair role, let’s figure it out?
Famous Star Kids Of Tollywood
Abir Chatterjee
He is the son of actor Phalguni Chatterjee. Abir started his career with Bengali Serials. After toiling hard in the TV industry, he became successful in movies. Today, the Byomkesh fame actor is the best talent in Tollywood, and nobody can question this.
Gourab Chatterjee
He is the grandson of the Bengali Film Industry’s biggest star Uttam Kumar. Mahanayak Uttam Kumar’s son never got any mega break. Last we knew that he had a medicine shop. Gourab is currently portraying the character of Rani Rashmoni’s son-in-law Mathuramohan Biswas, in Zee Bangla Serial. The actors work in both Serial and movies. He tasted success after a lot of struggle.
MoonMoon Sen
She is the daughter of Aandhi- fame superstar actress Suchitra Sen. She has appeared in 60 films and 40 television series in multiple languages. However, the audience was not impressed, and she failed to make it to great heights.
Raima Sen
The daughter of MoonMoon Sen and granddaughter of Suchitra Sen, she was born with a silver spoon. Raima did try her luck in Bollywood but didn’t succeed much. Her roles were acclaimed critically in Parineeta, Chokher Bali, Baishe Srabonm Nouka Dubi, Hrid Majharey was acclaimed critically.
Koel Mullick
Koel Mullick, daughter of actor Ranjeet Mullick, is one of the most sought-after actresses in Tollywood. She always received a mixed reaction to her roles, but she has given many blockbusters to Tollywood like Saat Paake Bandha, Bandhan, Shubhodrishti, etc. Koel was the first choice for Anurag Basu’s Gangster. But she turned it down as she was not comfortable giving intimate scenes. This movie gave Bollywood one of the biggest stars Kangana Ranaut. Koel has stunned his critics with her performance in Hemlock Society and Mitin Mashi.
Arjun Chakraborty And Gaurav Chakraborty
Saswata Chatterjee
He is the son of yesteryear actor Subhendu Chatterjee. He rose to fame with his character Bob Biswas in the thriller movie Kahaani. The actor is one of the most talented actors in Tollywood and made this path on his own. He claimed that he never got any privilege of being an actor’s son. Even he has become a victim of this.
Konkana Sen Sharma
Daughter of filmmaker-actress Aparna Sen, Konkana, is always praised for her acting skills. She grabbed the national award twice for Mr. And Mrs. Iyer and Omkara. She has also received Filmfare awards four times. Konkana mostly works in parallel cinema and has created a separate genre for herself.

Mahaakshay Chakraborty (Mimoh)
Prosenjit Chatterjee
Some Bengali actors have claimed that it is the favoritism that works in Tollywood. Today’s Top Bengali actors/ actress Dev, Jeet, Mimi Chakraborty, Subhashree, and Nusrat Jahan have no filmy connections. They have made it all on their own.
We can say that surname doesn’t matter only those who have the talent can survive in this glamorous world. One interesting observation that I read on Twitter that it’s neither favoritism nor nepotism. It is your political affiliation that sailed you through in Tollywood.
In Bollywood Nepotism ,Groupism thrives . Bengali Film TV industry your political affiliation can decide whether you will get work or not .Many actor/actress are surviving bcoz they regularly attend ruling party rallies .Some of them don’t deserve to have a career .
