The thriller web series Rabindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni aka REKKA, is all set to release on Bengali OTT platform Hoichoi on 13 August 2021. Director Srijit Mukherjee has adapted the novel of the same name for his debut Bengali web series. Bangladeshi thriller writer Mohammad Nazim Uddin’s book is coined as the best Bengali thriller book of recent times. Srijit Mukherji-directed web series Ray is streaming on Netflix.
The novel released in 2015, had received a wide response in Bangladesh and West Bengal. Hence the announcement of the series in 2020 had naturally generated much anticipation among the viewers. The novel also has a sequel Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Ashen Ni. So, viewers can expect a season 2 of the series.
The story revolves around a restaurant in Sundarpur and its mysterious female owner. The restaurant has a unique name Rabindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni which means Rabindranath never came here to eat. People wonder why such a strange name. Do they want to attract customers, or is there a deep conspiracy? No one knows about the woman’s real identity, and the natives think that she is a witch.
The Prime minister’s close relative has gone missing, and his last tracked location was in Sundarpur. An equally mysterious journalist lands in Sundar to find out things about them.

Rabindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni (REKKA) Star Cast
Initially, the shooting was planned in Bangladesh and India with the participation of several actors from both sides. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting happened only in India. This cause many Bangladeshi actors to be dropped from the series. Some part of the series is shot at the Burdwan-Durgapur region of West Bengal.
Initially, talented Bangladeshi actors Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, Pori Moni were supposed to be part of the web series. But, due to the pandemic situation, Indian actors replaced them.
However, Azmeri Haque Badhon, the only Bangladeshi actor in the series, got the role of the central character of Mushkan Zuberi. The series also features Rahul Bose, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anjan Dutt. Hoichoi’s Eken Babu fame Anirban Chakrabarti will play the role of a police officer.
The teaser looks mysterious and promising. Badhon as Muskan Zaveri looks astounding in the trailer. She received a standing ovation at the Cannes festival 2021 for her Bangladeshi film Rehana Maryam Noor. Srijit is all praises for this talented actor.
