Debadrita Basu is a popular Bengali Serial Actress. The audience recognizes her with her on-screen name, Joyee, and Alo. At this young age of 18, she has a huge fan following among youth. She will play the role of young Meera in upcoming Star Jalsha serial Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera.
Debadrita Basu was born on 3 October 2001 in Chakdaha in the Nadia district of West Bengal. His father, Sanjoy Basu, is a theater actor. From childhood, she loved acting and used to observe her father’s plays.
At the tender age of eight, she started working with the theatre group Ha Za Ba Ra La. She also used to take part in school plays. She started theater practice with her father. She has a younger sister who also does theatre.
She never thought of acting in Television serials. It was always a distant dream. She started giving auditions on his parent’s insistence and bagged the titular role in Zee Bangla serial, Joyee. Joyee gave her first shot at fame.
In Joyee, she played the role of a village girl who aspires to be a footballer. She had not played football before. But didn’t want to miss this opportunity. She had to undergo training to learn football. A coincidence is that his grandfather (Father’s Uncle), Bidesh Bose, was a legendary football player. He was also the former captain of Mohun Bagan(a Football club based in Kolkata).
Basu was in school, at standard Eleven, but she flawlessly fit into the character of a married lady in Joyee. She impressed the audience with her acting skills. Her on-screen chemistry with Debojyoti Dutta was an instant hit.
To manage time between her studies and shootings was difficult. There were times when she used to study in the makeup room. She had to go for shoots after the exams. But her passion for acting has always moved her forward.
Debadrita Basu completed her schooling at Satish Chandra Memorial School and scored 70 percent in higher secondary exams.
We have seen her in saree clad, traditional attire in her on-screen characters. But, offscreen Debadrita is a fashion diva. She is a trained dancer too.
She was voted sixth in the Calcutta Times Most Desirable Women on Television in 2019. On Instagram, she has around 184K followers.
In her last project, Alo Chhaya, she was playing the role of Alo. She played the strong character of a protective sister. The show aired on Zee Bangla channel.
