West Bengal College Service Commission(WBCSC) manages the West Bengal State Eligibility Test(WB-SET) for the Assistant Professor position only in West Bengal. The candidate seeking admission to the Test must apply online only on the WBCSC website. Test Centres are selected at the different districts of West Bengal.

The result will be made available on the website www.wbcsconline.in as and when it is declared. The candidate will not be individually intimated about it. Through a notification, the qualified candidates are called for counseling. They are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions in West Bengal only.
West Bengal SET Exam Pattern
The WBSET exam consists of 2 papers. Both the papers consist of only objective type questions and are held on the same day in two separate sessions.
Paper 1 – The questions will be of a general nature, designed to assess the candidate’s teaching and research abilities. The test evaluated the reasoning ability, comprehension, and general awareness of the candidate. It has 50 objective questions. The total marks are 100 and the time duration is 1 hour.
Paper 2 – For paper 2, candidates are required to choose the subject of their post-graduation only. It has 100 objective questions. The total marks are 200 and the time duration is 2 hours.

The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions on the OMR Sheet provided along with the test booklet.
Eligibility for Assistant Professor depends on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of SET in aggregate.
Eligibility Criteria for WB-SET exam
- The exam is only open to Indian nationals.
- There is no maximum age limit for applying for WBSET.
- Candidates must have secured at least
55% marks (without rounding off) for General/EWS category OR
50% marks (without rounding off) for OBC belonging to non-creamy layer/ SC /ST/ PWD/Transgender category
in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from UGC recognized universities.
3. Applicants pursuing a Master’s degree or equivalent program, candidates who have taken their Master’s degree (final year) examination and have yet to receive their results, are all eligible to take this test. However, such applicants will only be considered for Assistant Professor after passing their exams. Within two years of receiving the SET result, candidates must complete their master’s degree or equivalent program.

In 2021, the WBSET will conduct an exam on 33 subjects.

Candidates must take the WBSET solely on the topic of their Post-Graduation. If a candidate’s subject does not appear on the WB-SET list, he may apply for the UGC NET, which is held twice a year.
Reservation Policy For WB SET
Reservation Policy of Govt. of West Bengal is applicable on SET: SC 22%, ST 6%, OBC-A( NCL) 10%, OBC-B (NCL) 7%, EWS 10%, and 4% reservation for PWD Candidates with not less than 40% disability.
